PrismTech Announces Support Plans for Spectrum Signal Processing’s SDR-4000 and SDR-7000 Platforms

Boston, MA, USA – October 22, 2013 – PrismTech™, a global leader in software defined radio (SDR) solutions, today revealed plans to release its market-leading Spectra™ SDR product suite (Software Communications Architecture (SCA) core framework, middleware and tools) on Spectrum Signal Processing’s (Spectrum) SDR-4000 and SDR-7000 platforms.

Responding to customer demand from users of the Spectrum SDR-4000, PrismTech will provide Spectra support on the Spectrum SDR-4000 in the 4th Quarter 2013.  The Spectra product suite will be available for both existing and new Spectrum SDR-4000 users allowing them to take advantage of PrismTech’s high performance, low-overhead, SCA v2.2.2 implementation.

Today PrismTech is also announcing Spectra support for the new Spectrum SDR-7000 platform is planned for early 2014.  Thus the two Spectrum platforms will benefit from a common software stack supplied, supported and with future enhancements from PrismTech; the global leader in COTS SCA software.

PrismTech’s Spectra product suite is a fully-integrated package of COTS tools, middleware, core framework, and radio platform services and devices.  It provides a state-of-the-art SCA development and deployment environment supporting General Purpose Processor (GPP), Digital Signal Processor (DSP) and Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) processing elements.

  • Spectra Core Framework (CF) – a high-performance, ultra-low footprint, COTS implementation of the SCA v2.2.2 standard’s Framework Control and Service Interfaces is now available for Spectrum SDR-4000 and SDR-7000
  • Spectra Common Data Bus (CDB) – a fully integrated and optimized SDR middleware stack.  Spectra CDB runs across a wide range of GPP, DSP and FPGA processing elements and now provides comprehensive support for the Spectrum SDR-4000 and SDR-7000 processor sets
  • Spectrum SDR-4000 and SDR-7000 platform services and device components

PrismTech Launches the Spectra Virtual Appliance a complete pre-configured SCA 2.2.2 Development System and Operating Environment

Allows Software Defined Radio developers to quickly and easily evaluate the complete Spectra product suite

PrismTech’s Spectra Virtual Appliance consists of an Ubuntu Linux 12.04 Operating System and a pre-configured bundle of the latest versions of the Spectra CX graphical SCA modeling tool, Spectra Core Framework (CF) radio management framework and Spectra Common Data Bus (CDB) middleware.

PrismTech Announces the Addition of SCA 4.0 Middleware to its Spectra DTP4700 SDR Development and Test Platform

Facilitates SCA compliance for GPP, DSP and FPGA components, thus enabling: more efficient component inter-operability and portability, faster development and deployment, and greater IP reuse

SDR-WInnComm Conference, Washington, DC, USA – January 8, 2012 – PrismTech™, a global leader in standards-based, performance-critical middleware, today announced that it will soon be adding Software Communications Architecture (SCA) 4.0 middleware support to its Spectra™ DTP4700 Software Defined Radio (SDR) development and test platform.

This innovation is a significant application and demonstration of PrismTech’s Spectra Common Data Bus (CDB) embedded middleware to facilitate the inter-operability and portability of application components deployed across different processors on a SDR platform (i.e. General Purpose Processors (GPPs), Digital Signal Processors (DSPs) and Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs)).  Spectra CDB can support SCA-compliance for both SCA 2.2.2 and SCA 4.0 specifications.

PrismTech Announces First COTS Product Support for SCA 4.0 Software Defined Radio Specification

Boston, MA, USA – October 24, 2012 – PrismTech™, a global leader in standards-based, performance-critical middleware, today announced details of its support for the SCA 4.0 next generation Software Defined Radio (SDR) middleware specification as part of its Spectra product suite.

SCA 4.0 is a major revision of the Software Communications Architecture standard.  SCA 4.0 is more scalable, lightweight, and flexible than the current SCA 2.2.2 specification and is compatible with radio sizes ranging from small, single channel radios to prime-power, multi-channel sets.  The SCA 4.0 specification includes transfer mechanisms to provide standardized client/server operations.  SCA 4.0 Appendix E identifies the approved set of platform specific transport and technology mappings, transformations, and model representations used to achieve conformance with the SCA Platform Independent model (PIM) as defined in the main specification.

PrismTech’s SpectraCommon Data Bus (CDB) is a fully integrated and optimized SDR middleware stack.  It is the first standards based, high performance, low footprint, fully interoperable, COTS SCA middleware solution that can be deployed across multiple processor types, including GPP, DSP and FPGA environments.  Spectra CDB includes the Spectra C++ ORB (for GPP) and C ORB (for GPP and DSP); and the Spectra IP Core ORB (ICO) for FPGA and ASIC implementations.

PrismTech is today announcing that the Spectra CDB suite of CORBA ORBs will be fully SCA 4.0 compliant by the end of the year 2012.  Spectra ORB C++ Edition will provide support for SCA Full Profile.  The Spectra ORB C Edition will provide support for SCA 4.0 Full and Lightweight Profiles.  Spectra ICO already supports the SCA 4.0 Ultra-Lightweight Profile.
