Zeligsoft will become PrismTech’s Center of Expertise for Model-Based Engineering and Development Tools
Boston, MA, USA and Gatineau, QC, Canada – October 26, 2010 — PrismTech™, a global leader in standards-based, performance-critical middleware, today announced that it has acquired the tools business of Zeligsoft, a leading vendor of model-based development tools for embedded software systems.
The acquisition follows on from a successful partnering agreement signed in July 2009 that created Spectra CX, which is now the most widely used SCA-compliant development tool by SDR developers. This immediate success quickly led to acquisition discussions that resulted in today’s announcement.
The acquisition will combine PrismTech’s expertise in embedded platform middleware with Zeligsoft’s expertise in Model-Based Engineering (MBE) tools and methodologies.
“This combination of PrismTech’s and Zeligsoft’s expertise will result in a win-win-win for PrismTech, Zeligsoft, and most importantly for our customers,” said Keith Steele, CEO, PrismTech. “The combination of Zeligsoft’s and PrismTech’s core competencies and their integration and deployment in innovative products has already resulted in great success for Spectra CX and we see many more opportunities for extending Spectra CX (for example adding support for DSP and FPGA component generation) and launching advanced new development tools for both the SDR segment and other vertical markets.”
Francis Bordeleau, CEO, Zeligsoft, added “All our customers build deployment platforms as well as applications, so we’ve always known that a combination of our tooling leadership with a leader in platform middleware would be a logical marriage. PrismTech is that clear leader in SDR/SCA platform middleware, so now we can offer our customers a complete SDR solution as well as the tools that support their own SCA implementation. This partnership with PrismTech will also accelerate our tooling roadmap for other advanced middleware technologies, such as DDS.”
“With today’s news, PrismTech is addressing the market opportunity for comprehensive software-defined radio solutions,” said Chip Downing, senior director of aerospace and defense at Wind River. “Having long worked with PrismTech, we are encouraged to see them broaden their expertise and work towards further benefiting our joint customers with high-performance, highly integrated SDR solutions that can accelerate the deployment of next-generation radio platforms.”
Under the agreement both PrismTech and Zeligsoft will continue to work with their third-party partners.
